After 900 kilometers of driving, the phrase <em>are we there yet<\/em> is on repeat. And so, both the front and back seats find a logical consensus: <em>let\u2019s stop at Lake Como<\/em>.    <\/p>\n<p>Chiasso, <em>benvenuto in Italia<\/em>. Como, <em>troppo gente<\/em>. Carate Urio, <em>pranzo e prosecco<\/em>. We continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/amiamo-lagodicomo.com\/en\/discover\/mezzegra\/\">Mezzegra<\/a>, where we check in at <a href=\"https:\/\/amiamo-lagodicomo.com\/en\/2023\/03\/31\/overnight-stay-at-hotel-lario-in-mezzegra\/\">Hotel Lario<\/a>. After a refreshing dip, we\u2019re ready to wander around and enjoy Lake Como and our first day of vacation. New consensus: we\u2019re leaving the car in the hotel parking lot. The Statale makes a wide curve here. The neoclassical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandhoteltremezzo.com\/it\/camere-e-suite\/villa-sola-cabiati\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Villa Sola Cabiati <\/a>presides over the area, exuding typical grandeur and highlighting its rich history. The sprawling garden extends into stately steps that disappear into Lake Como. Youth and locals mingle over a drink and a cigarette. From the quay walls, people dive gracefully into Lake Como. Right at the entrance of the park, you\u2019ll find Bar Acqua Cheta, a typical little Italian bar. Typical in terms of drinks, snacks, and pizzas on offer. Later in the evening, you might just stumble upon an impromptu party.       <\/p>\n<p>The menu offers typical antipasti, primi piatti, pastas, pizzas, and taglieri with salumi and formaggio. Delicious and reasonably priced, it\u2019s yet another great spot where you can satisfy <em>any craving<\/em>.  <\/p>\n<p>The waiter is a friendly young man who enthusiastically sets down our drinks and pizza. He asks if we\u2019d be willing to send him the photos we just took. Of course, follow our Instagram page, and we\u2019ll send the photos. Sonja is a Dutch woman married to the head chef of <a href=\"https:\/\/amiamo-lagodicomo.com\/en\/2018\/06\/07\/being-invited-to-ristorante-albergo-lenno-in-lenno\/\">Albergo Lenno<\/a> and has been living in Tremezzo for years. We&#8217;ve known her for quite some time, and whenever we can, we always catch up over drinks. Her son studies in Florence but works a bit at Bar Roma as a summer job&#8230; Yes, it was him who asked for the photos. Coincidence doesn\u2019t exist.     <\/p>\n<p>Fifteen minutes later, we\u2019re back at Bar Roma for the second time today, enjoying another drink. We catch up and listen with interest to what Sonja has to say. Lake Como has so much to offer but also its share of challenges.
