Rent Green Lake Home apartment in Argegno… For our summer vacation, where we plan to stay for a week, we didn’t want to stay in a hotel but were looking for an apartment, a house, or something similar. We wanted to have a bit of privacy and fully experience the vacation feeling. Additionally, we wanted a place with a swimming pool, a view of Lake Como, and preferably a good location between Cernobbio and Menaggio. And if there’s still budget left for visiting cafes and restaurants, we’d be completely happy.
Through booking.com, we discovered Green Lake Home in Argegno in May. A recent apartment with a swimming pool at a price of 960 euros for a week. We didn’t hesitate – August was approaching fast – and confirmed our booking.
Fast forward to August… We had arranged to meet the contact person at 3 PM. She would be waiting for us. Due to heavy traffic, we arrived at 6 PM. The directions from Argegno were clearly explained, and soon we were at the entrance gate of our destination. We rang the bell and were warmly welcomed by Emilia, the owner of the apartment.
You really feel at home here. We couldn't give a better compliment!
We were immediately pleasantly surprised! A spacious ground-floor apartment with a living room, kitchen with induction stove, bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a dressing room, and a covered terrace with a garden. Everything is very new and tastefully decorated. All comforts are present: washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, vacuum cleaner, WiFi… But also a drying rack, coffee pods for the coffee maker, brochures, trash bags (recycling is important here), dishwasher tablets, complete kitchenware, and even ice cream in the freezer! Emilia explained everything to us, in English if you prefer, showed us the swimming pool, and wished us a pleasant vacation. For hospitality, we give five stars right away.
But the apartment has more to offer, especially the location. A view of Lake Como, absolutely. Green Lake Home is located just above Argegno. After 108 steps, you’re in the center. It only takes ten minutes! You can walk to get ice cream, an Aperol, or fresh bread, to the ferry boat, or to the swimming beach without needing a car. You can park your car in the garage in a spot that belongs to the apartment. Convenient, as parking spaces in Argegno are scarce and expensive.
At Green Lake Home, you find absolute tranquility. The apartment is part of a new development. The few residents already living there are locals or people like Emilia who rent out the apartment to tourists. It’s not a busy place with mass tourism. On the contrary. You truly feel at home here. We couldn’t give a better compliment! This does mean you need to follow some house rules: recycling, using the swimming pool between 8 AM and 8 PM, not being too noisy, and taking good care of the common areas like the hallway and garage. But we have no problem with that at all!
A very small downside is the high-voltage power lines that run more or less over the apartment. But to be honest, when you’re sitting on the terrace looking at Lake Como, you hardly notice the power lines.
On the last day, we check out at 10 AM. Since we can’t check in at the next hotel until 2 PM, Emilia allows us to stay by the pool. She truly deserves praise!
We made an extra effort to leave the apartment clean, and Emilia noticed… The coffee pods that normally cost extra were given to us for free. Emilia only started renting out her apartment in April… So if we can help her with a bit of extra publicity, we’d be happy to do so!
