Visit the Light Festival La Città dei Balocchi… Ho, ho, ho, prosecco… This year, Santa has parked his reindeer and sleigh in Como! No wonder, because thanks to the Christmas Festival La Città dei Balocchi, from November 25th to January 7th, Como is completely immersed in an enchanting Christmas atmosphere.
Originally intended to create ambiance for local families and children, La Città dei Balocchi has grown into a major attraction and a real catalyst for tourism after 24 editions.
What can you expect? An ice rink on Piazza Cavour, the traditional Christmas market, atmospheric music, decorated streets, and entertainment. But the highlight is experienced in the evening when it gets dark. Numerous historic buildings spread throughout the city are illuminated with video-mapping and light projections.
That’s the information we read on Como’s website… After our dinner at Osteria del Beuc, we are ready to discover the Christmas atmosphere ourselves. And indeed, Como has outdone itself!
We walk through the beautifully lit streets to Piazza del Duomo. The square is filled with people amused by the colorful Christmas figures and messages projected on the facades. Even the Duomo does not escape the playful video-mapping. Well done!
With a warm wine in hand, we look for the other illuminated buildings and enjoy a magical evening in Italy!
