Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Como, Blevio is a charming village located just a few minutes from the city of Como. With its rich history, breathtaking views and tranquil atmosphere, it is one of the lake’s hidden gems.

Blevio consists of seven historic hamlets, Girola, Mezzovico, Meggianico, Capovico, Cazzanore, Sorto and Sopravilla, which climb the hillsides from the lakeshore towards Monte Boletto. Locally known as the “Seven Towns”, these picturesque settlements form a harmonious whole that stretches from the water’s edge to an elevation of around 1,140 metres.

Blevio’s history stretches back thousands of years. Archaeological evidence shows that the area was already inhabited more than 3,500 years ago, while the first official document mentioning the name Blevio dates from 1084. Over the centuries, the village became part of various administrative territories, yet it has always retained its peaceful and residential character. That heritage is reflected in the many historic villas scattered throughout the village. Over the years, they have been home to noble families, artists and musicians, including the celebrated opera singer Giuditta Pasta, who once lived at Villa Roccabruna.

Visitors to Blevio can enjoy several scenic walking trails, including a route leading to Pietra Nairola, a mysterious granite boulder perched at an altitude of 750 metres. Surrounded by local legends and folklore, it is one of the area’s most intriguing natural landmarks.

The centre of Blevio is home to charming squares and narrow pedestrian lanes, beautifully decorated with colourful mosaics from the Blevio Mosaic Park. Launched in 2016, this open air art project has transformed the village with creative works by students and artists from around the world.

Religious heritage also plays an important role in Blevio. The Church of Santi Gordiano ed Epimaco, originally dating from the fifteenth century and rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1762, together with the newer parish church designed by Carlo Lucini in 1967, houses valuable paintings and decorative elements from the Lombard school.

Today, Blevio is home to just over 1,200 residents and around 580 households. The village is an ideal destination for those seeking peace and tranquillity while staying close to the city of Como.
