Plesio, the balcony over Lake Como

Plesio is perched high above the western shore of Lake Como at an altitude of around 600 metres. Home to around 800 residents, the municipality consists of several small hamlets scattered among forests and mountain pastures. Plesio’s history dates back to the Bronze Age. Archaeological discoveries show that people settled here thousands of years ago. The name Plesio is believed to derive from the Celtic language and means ‘rock above the water’, a fitting reference to the village’s spectacular setting high above Lake Como.
