Ristorante Albergo Lenno in Lenno… A humble breakfast and lunch kept remarkably light. Tonight we will dine in the restaurant of Albergo di Lenno. Or even better, we have been invited by Sonja from Lake Como Assistance to taste the dishes that her chef husband conjures up from his chef’s hat. We have a golden suspicion that we will be pampered tonight.

We doubt: should we take the car or take the ferry? Once, well marinated in a nice glass of wine, pulling the ship’s horn on the return trip must be a unique experience. Too bad, the ferry boats don’t sail late enough for this. It will be the car… All joking aside, just know that the ferry boats arrive right in front of Albergo Lenno.

Albergo di Lenno is located in the Bay of Lenno, behind the headland on which Villa Balbianello shines. By the way, you walk past it when you follow the Greenway del Lario. We park in the parking lot of the famous villa and walk to our appointment with growling stomachs. In the distance we see the four-star hotel Albergo Lenno to which the restaurant belongs.

We are kindly approached by a waiter who points to a table for two. And here we are sitting at a romantic table with a beautiful view of the Bay of Lenno, under the evening sun. Yes, you arranged that great Sonja!

There are beautiful dishes on the menu: Terrina di Asparagi with tuorlo d’uovo marinato, Tagliolini with crema al finocchietto, Filetto di Lavarello in Tempura, Maialino da latte disossato al dolce forte … You don’t even have to translate it, it even sounds delicious !

We choose Lasagnetta di melanzane, mozzarella di bufala, pomodoro confittato and Fagottini neri alla carbonara, followed by Cubi di Merluzzo neri with crema di piselli e “Bagna Cauda” and Guanciale di Vitello al Barolo with polenta and cipolline in agradolce.

No, neither our memory nor our knowledge of Italian is as flawless as we type: you will find the menu on the website. Even better, at Albergo Lenno you can also choose a menu formula.

And then we suddenly get an amicable tap on the shoulders. It is Dario who comes to say hello to us. Friendly guy, relaxed as if you’ve known him for years. He jokes: “If you have eaten well later, I have done my job well. If something goes wrong, I’ll kick someones feet in my kitchen.”

And whether he does his job well! The starters are beautifully presented but above all very, very tasty. Flavor bombs on the plate. And the main courses are also spot on. We surf and we turf; the plates are passed back and forth so that we can taste everything. Accessible kitchen on restaurant level. Although we have eaten more than enough, we cannot resist sharing another plate with a selection of desserts. Another coffee and mint tea please!

Albergo Lenno is very good value for money. We pay around 90 euros for starter and main course, dessert, two glasses of wine, coffee, water and tea. And we’ll tell you anyway: Albergo di Lenno has four stars, but don’t let that put you off. Here you can enjoy delicious food at a fair price, with fantastic views and ditto service.

Of course the chef will come by to check how our evening went. Exactly as we expected: we were pampered! With Sonja and Dario, one plus one makes clearly three…
